One of the defining characteristics of vodka is its neutral flavour profile. This neutrality allows it to be used as a base for a wide variety of cocktails and mixed drinks. Red Square Vodka is one of South Africa’s leading triple distilled vodka brands and is also available in a variety of flavoured vodka apéritifs.

Gin can generally be classified into several categories depending on its distillation method and flavour profile. London Dry is the purist processes, where juniper berries and other botanicals are distilled into a clear liquid, with no added sugar, giving it an unmistakable dry taste and strong juniper flavour. Halewood South Africa specialises in the production of several award-winning, iconic (London dry) gin brands such as Belgravia, Whitley Neill, and Musgrave.

Halewood South Africa’s range of rums includes Caribbean Twist, Dead Man’s Fingers and imported aged Dictador Rum. Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane byproducts such as molasses or sugarcane juice. The production process involves fermentation of the sugarcane byproducts, distillation, and aging in oak barrels. Rum is a versatile spirit and is commonly used in cocktails such as the Mojito, Daiquiri, Pina Colada, and Mai Tai. It can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.

Whiskey (or whisky, depending on the region) is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. The grains used in whiskey production typically include barley, corn, rye, and wheat, with different proportions and variations resulting in various types and flavours of whiskey. Halewood South Africa imports and bottles a range of distinctively smooth, triple distilled Irish whiskies which includes The Pogues, Peaky Blinder and Samuel Gelston’s blended Irish whiskey. We also offer our clients a taste of Scotland with Crabbie’s Yardhead single malt Scotch whisky.

Brandy is produced by distilling wine and aging it in wooden barrels, which gives it its characteristic flavour and amber colour.

Sambuca is a sweet, anise-flavoured liqueur that originated in Italy. It is made from essential oils obtained from star anise, which gives it its characteristic liquorice-like flavour, along with other herbs and spices. Halewood imports four variants of a genuine Italian, award-winning sambuca brand – Antica Sambuca.

Beers & Ciders

Beer is one of the oldest and most widely enjoyed beverages globally. It is typically made from water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. The basic brewing process involves fermenting sugars derived from grains (usually barley) into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Halewood distributes Buffelsfontein Lager, a unique Afrikaans-inspired lager beer.

Ciders are made mainly from the fermented juice of apples. It is similar to beer in that it undergoes a fermentation process, but instead of using grains like barley, cider is usually made from apples. We distribute several cider variants of Loxtonia cider, which is a well-known craft cider brand produced and bottled in South Africa according to the “orchard to bottle” cider-making principle.

Energy Drinks

Energy drinks are beverages that primarily contain ingredients such as caffeine, sugar, vitamins, and other substances, which are intended to provide a temporary boost in energy and alertness. These drinks are ideal for individuals who need a quick pick-me-up, such as students, athletes, and people with demanding jobs or lifestyles. Halewood produces Red Square Reload and 7StarsEnergy – both of which are popular brands in the local energy drinks market.

Halewood South Africa’s non-alcoholic Hall & Bramley Mixers are preferred by those who appreciate only the finest mixers and are seeking premium ingredients to elevate their drinking experience. We also produce non-alcoholic variants of some of our most popular gin brands such as Belgravia and Musgrave.

We offer various types of liqueurs ranging from herbal, citrus to cream liqueurs. All of which can be enjoyed neat, over ice and in cocktails / adult milkshakes. Halewood’s line of liqueurs includes the delectable Sidekick Cream Liqueurs, Hasenrache herbal liqueur and Rossi d’ Asiago Limoncello.

Apéritifs are typically consumed before a meal to stimulate the appetite. They are usually sweet and have a relatively low alcohol content for spirits. Halewood South Africa produces several flavoured vodka apéritifs under its Red Square Drinks brand.

Although we specialise in the production of spirits and ready-to-drink premixes, we have sourced only the best wines for our basket of goods. We distribute Buffelsfontein Pinotage, Steen Chenin Blanc and Wyntjie (canned wine). And for the wine connoisseurs, we have partnered with Blaauwklippen Wines – one of South Africa’s oldest and well-known wineries.

Tequila has gained global reverence and is protected by Mexican law which specifies the regions where it can be produced, and the processes involved in its production. It is made from the blue agave plant and there are various types of tequila, including Blanco (white or silver), Reposado (rested) and Añejo (aged), which all differ in aging processes and flavour profiles. Tequila is a popular spirit for use in cocktails, such as margaritas, and can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. Halewood imports a variety of renowned tequila brands.

Méthode Cap Classique

In the context of wine, particularly South African wine, MCC refers to Méthode Cap Classique, a traditional method of producing sparkling wine. It is quite similar to the méthode champenoise used in Champagne, France, where secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, creating carbonation. Halewood South Africa is the distributor of Bonang Matheba’s House of BNG MCC range.
